Most of the inquiries we get for weddings are fairly straightforward. They contain dates, often numbers, and sometimes locations. I was surprised and charmed by the inquiry that we received from John and Kayla. We worked with John a few years ago, but never guessed at the depths of his wordsmithery. Despite the fact that it was delivered via email, I could picture it etched by quill and delivered by a bird. I hope they won’t mind if I post an excerpt here; I personally think it must be shared.
Hola my good man. I have recently asked for the hand of a lovely lady, Kayla, with whom I am quite taken. We are planning a small (< 30 guests) ceremony and possibly a brief dinner to follow, in the Year of our Lord 2017. We wish to capture the declarations of our love for all the ages in the format of film and photography. We would like to know if you would have any interest in helping us remember our day forever? We have some dates in mind and were curious if you would be available for any of them:
If available, could you please let us know what the cost of your expertise would be and/or if you have any questions? We absolutely love your work and would love for you to be a part of our day.
Yours always and forever,
John Stephen Sexton (as dictated to Kayla Kaser)”
Just when you think it can’t get better, it DOES! Especially the end, when you are left wondering, did John say it that way in a goofy mood, or did Kayla put her own spin on his words. I love it!
John and Kayla, I’m so glad we got to capture you on one of the last beautiful days of fall. We’re absolutely stoked for your wedding!
