We were photographing Mark and Darlene’s wedding back in June when Brandon caught the garter, so we expected to recognize a few family members and friends when Megan and Brandon got married at Shepherd of the Valley. I don’t think we expected to recognize so many! Especially at the reception, we finally realized how close this family is, complete with inside jokes about Boone’s Farm, and we were so honored to be accepted into the group once again.
The other thing that surprised us, even though we were warned, were the number of kids! The dance floor never stopped moving, even when there was no dancing officially going on. From where we sat, they all looked to be in constant danger of running into each other, but clearly they knew what they were doing, because there were surprisingly few tears and they all seemed to be having fun. It turned out to be quite the floor show to see multiple overlapping groups each immersed in their own individual games and dances. After dinner, the bride and groom, who clearly knew their audience, requested that the DJ play “Let it Go.” All little faces lit up. Megan came out to the floor to lead a dance circle surrounded by little girls who surely must have been looking up and thinking, “it’s a real live princess!”
What we really loved to see was how Megan and Brandon were unfailingly sweet to each other, and to us. They brought together an exceptionally wonderful, funny and kind group of people and we were so glad to be there. Megan and Brandon, thank you for including us, and congratulations!
