A lot happened at Caroline and Adam’s wedding, but I’ll always remember it for the calm way that Caroline stood in front of the sink in the bridal suite at Bavaria Downs and waited patiently while 3-4 women ran detergent through her train. It snowed the night before the wedding the ground was soaked – hiding, unfortunately, lots of dirt. When we all came back inside after Caroline and Adam’s first look, her train was soaked and more than a little dirty.
Now, dresses get dirty at every wedding. It’s a white dress and a long, busy day. A little dirt is natural and usually, no one but the bride will notice or care. Caroline’s train lept over the line of “a little dirty” and laughed as it entered “I’m an ombre dress now” territory, and this was before the ceremony and pictures. But Caroline was totally cool; if anything, myself and the coordinator were the ones freaking out. Luckily the amazing coordinator tracked down some detergent and the train was long enough that Caroline could stand in front of the sink and get her dress washed. All the while there was the regular hullabaloo around her as people got ready and I just kept thinking, this woman is unflappable, she has nerves of steel.
Both she and Adam were the calm center of the wedding whirlwind. There was a lot going on between the friends, family and kids, the decor they made themselves, and the dress going rogue, but they kept their cool and had fun. (Oh and speaking of the decor they made themselves – it was those huge tree-like decorations flanking them in the aisle. How cool, right?!)
