Nicollet Island Pavilion Minneapolis Wedding | Sarah & Willie

Bride and groom smiling together during their Nicollet Island Pavilion wedding in Minneapolis.

Sarah and Willie’s wedding at Nicollet Island Pavilion was a genuine reflection of who they are: relaxed, personal, and centered entirely around the people they love. Because they already spend so much time walking around Boom Island and along the Mississippi Riverfront, choosing a venue right in their neighborhood felt natural from the start.

A Personal Approach to Ceremony & Traditions

Rather than having a traditional wedding party, Sarah and Willie found organic ways to involve everyone close to them. Friends and family took on meaningful roles throughout the day—sharing quiet moments while getting ready, giving ceremony readings, and celebrating without the rigid structure of a standard lineup. It kept the focus on genuine connection without drawing arbitrary lines.

Riverfront Portraits & Swing Dancing Under the Lights

After capturing portraits along the cobblestone paths and historic riverfront surrounding Nicollet Island, the focus shifted to an incredible evening inside the pavilion. Willie is an avid swing dancer, so the couple brought that energy straight into the celebration with live swing music during cocktail hour followed by a packed dance floor with their DJ later in the night. While Sarah was newer to swing dancing, their practiced first dance hit the sweet spot: fun, natural, and completely unpretentious.
